When you are applying snaps through only two very thin layers... like when you are making a PUL diaper or a thin flannel diaper... Nail clippers are your friend!
Insert your cap through.
Snip off just the very end of the point so you're left with the flat post.
Apply your socket or stud.
Press as usual. I only have pliers, so I have no idea if you need to do anything with a press.
What is the benefit of doing it this way? Does it eliminate the post rolling over and laying down, ruining your snap job?
ReplyDeleteI know this is old, but I wanted to add my experience with using a snap press. I also need to nail clip the tips of my normal size prongs to get a clean press. The short pronged ones do not need to be clipped though, but only come in white or black as far as I have found.
ReplyDeleteAt 81 yrs of age I didn't know they used snaps instead of diaper pins anymore. Good idea.Don't they come unsnapped easily, though?
ReplyDeleteAs a young military wife back in the mid '60's I used a washboard in the bath tub after rinsing out the dirty diaper of poopies in the toilet instead of spending money on machines so I could buy food for my baby. I had boiled water ion the stove to make certain the water has hot enough to sanitize properly. I am so concerned for young mothers in this day and age with the coming meltdown.
