Interest in a new pattern?

A cutting template for this is now available HERE.

Would there be any interest in me making a pattern for "turtle shell" diaper, sort of akin to g-diapers? I think I could figure out both an OS and sized versions for something similar to those. I'd probably design the sized ones to be a fleece body shaped similarly to the hip-snapping fleece soaker covers that I have in my blog already. The they'd have a snap-in PUL (it could even be just a good poly fleece if PUL isn't available to you) with either FOE or cased elastic (I could do tutorials for both methods) pouch of sorts that would hold the absorbency. Which could be a more typical diaper insert, or even anything absorbent folded up to fit like a tea towel or washcloths or an old shirt. Whatever. It seems like it could be very easy to make. However, I never liked that style of diapers back when my own kids were little. So, it was never anything I wanted to try back then.

However, I know some people DO like that style. So, if there is an interest, I'm more than happy to draft up the patterns and do a tutorial.

Let me know!

  1. Pretty please, Arfy! I'd be so grateful. I recently tried to do a mock gdiaper style, without the pouch and it had zero 💩-holding ability. I did the pants with a hidden PUL layer, and fleece pocket inner and stuffed with a trifold.

    1. Did you consider switching the fabrics around and having the fleece be the pants and the PUL be the pouch though? Was the pouch size big enough?

    1. For this style specifically? Or for other cloth diapers? I haven't yet uploaded this style to my pattern downloads page yet. Check back next week.

  3. Hi Arfy, is there any chance of you drafting a pattern like the New Conceptions Side Snap PooPockets please? The pattern is no longer available for sale.

  4. Hello, I just found your website by coincidence. What an amazing ressource - haven't found any other comprehensive websites with sewing instructions so far. However, (maybe because I am not an English native speaker) I am quite confused about the abbreviations: AIO, AI2, OS, FOE, NB, TnT... and some other words: difference between soaker, squaretab, preflat, fold-in etc. I cannot really tell from the photos what this all means and have not found a glossary. Can I find information somewhere here?

  5. Cloth diapers require more effort and time compared to disposable ones. Washing and maintaining cloth diapers can be time-consuming, and parents need to stay on top of laundry to ensure a steady supply.
