Universal Newborn Template

Here is a template based on the custom diaper that one of my readers won last week!  I made some changes after sewing the one up for her, so this *should* make a nicer diaper than the one I made for her even.  ;)

It has cut/sew marks for a Flip-style cover, an Elemental-style AIO, a more standard AIO, an AI2 or an AIO with a snap-in soaker...  or, you can just make a pocket diaper with the general shape.

Templates can be downloaded here:  http://prefold2fitted.blogspot.com/2012/10/online-free-downloads.html

  3. Thank you so much. I can't wait to get started! I made a bunch of nb fitted for #2, but I really like AI2's and AIO's so I am really excited to make these for #3.

  4. Does this include seam allowances? I want to use this pattern for most of my NB stash :)

    1. Yup. The outer line is the cutting line. The second line is the turned/final diaper line. You sew between those two before turning, elastic, and top-stitching. :) I'd recommend making a few diapers from several patterns, as you never know what will fit your own baby best.

    2. Thanks Arfy! I'll be working my way through a few of your NB patterns and I was thinking about BaaBaaBaby and some others. I really love your patterns, though!

    1. Um. It isn't a one-size diaper. It is a newborn-only diaper. It should fit around 7-13lbs depending on the build of the baby I think.

    3. There are MANY different templates on my downloads page. Several of them are one-size diapers. It is very rare for a one-size diaper to fit an average sized newborn though. The smallest I have seen them fit well is about 8.5lbs.

  6. I'm in need of one that goes 12-35 pounds. Maybe I'm overlooking those patterns? I can't seem to find them.

  7. Should I pre-wash the pre-folds before sewing? From the size and pics from your other non-served tutorial it seems like they are not washed first but I wanted to check. Love the pattern. Thanks.

  9. Could you do a pictorial for the universal? I'm really interested in making this one, but all the lines on the pattern are confusing me. Thanks for sharing!!

  10. I am a grandmother who would like to make some Microfleece reusable liners for some young mothers, do you have a pattern or measurements that I can use, I don’t have access to the modern cloth nappies/diapers to work out a pattern. This would be for a the first year at least.
