I got a custom order for 4 of these. I haven't seen the same thing sold before, so I thought i'd share the photos of one of the finished products. they are very simple. Just the baabaababy.us-style of seamless extended wing prefold fitted diaper, but instead of a print outer fabric, I used suedecloth as an inner fabric.
Some step-by-step pics (I might add in descriptions a little later):
Using a great little thing called a "bodkin" to thread my elastic:
And the finished custom order ready to send out. :)
When you put these together, what size prefold did you need to use to get the finished size you wanted? For example, would a newborn prefold give you a newborn size pre-fitted, or would you need to go up to an infant prefold to end up with a newborn pre-fitted?
ReplyDeleteThe elastic lowers the functional rise. So, an infant size prefold makes a newborn size fitted. Etc. I just make 2 sizes. NB and then fold-over rise OS using a premium prefold.
DeleteInstead of suede cloth, do you think athletic wicking would work?
ReplyDeleteFor sure. Or microfleece/microchamois. However, those are both more stretchy, so a bit more difficult to sew to a non-stretchy woven like prefold gauze.
DeleteThis is exactly what I have been searching for! Which pattern do you use to make these?
