Cut out your inner and outer fabrics.
I leave a little more extra in the middle of the front to make closing the turning hole easier.
Clip or pin your fabrics together with faces inward.
Sew around the outsides leaving the turning holes in the front.
Trim off the excess around the sharper curves only.
Get ready to zig-zag on your elastics!
Zig-Zag stitch your elastic into the seam allowance while stretching tightly.
What they should all look like when sewn in.
Elastic through the legs and across the back.
Invert through the turning hole and get ready to close up the front.
Now back to the straight stitch to close up and do all your top-stitching.
Make sure you sew far enough in when going around the elastic areas.
You don't want to catch your elastic anywhere but on the very end of them.
All closed up and ready to add snaps or velcro.
I used black thread so you could see my sewing, but using matching thread colors will make for a much nicer and more-finished looking product.
Then just sew a little loop of ribbon to the inside of the keychain diaper to attach your keychain ring to. I don't have one on-hand to show right now. :)

Do you use smaller snaps for the keychain and doll diapers?
ReplyDeleteNah. I just use 20s because that is what I have.
DeleteHow wpuld u have a chain for keychain?
ReplyDeleteFor the keychain diapers, you sew a little piece of folded over ribbon just inside the rear edge. Then you put your key ring through that to connect them. :)
DeleteWould the doll diapers fit a baby alive? Those disposable diapers are crazy expensive and my daughter loves making her BA go potty.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what their size is. Maybe try making the preemie size diapers and seeing if those fit? Assuming the NB sizes are too big.
DeleteThank you so much for posting these directions and patterns!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these patterns and tutorials! I recently lost my preemie son who lived for a few short hours. The nurses at the hospital put a darling diaper on our son after he passed because all babies need a diaper. After laying him to rest, I am finding solace in giving back and was delighted to find these patterns so that I can make some tiny diapers for other babies like mine. Thank you again for making a difference in my life and in the lives of the mommas who will smile at a cute diaper while they are going through one of the most difficult times of their lives. <3
